What was the deal with Vaculik? They may have announced it and I missed it.

I believe she had a slight injury right before Christmas which took her out of early season lineups and then she was sick (mono?). Vaculik did compete bars at least once (maybe twice) and had a good score – I believe she filled in when Snead needed to come out to rest her back.

Pure speculation, but I would guess Vaculik wasn't hitting for consistency on bars during practice where the coaches were confident she'd out score Sanders, Reynolds or Johnson. No way would she replace a healthy Snead, Dickson or Rachel S. If the first three gymnasts plus Vaculik were all looking about the same in practice, there's no reason to mess with the lineup. Also, I can see why the coaches wouldn't want to take the two seniors out and Sanders had to sit on the sidelines for two years while Vaculik competed so I imagine the coaches wanted to give another comparable athlete a chance. Sanders did fine and was scoring similar to Vaculik. I do think Vaculik has more up-side to her scores when she hits, but she also had more inconsistency on both bars and beam as a sophomore (she was eventually removed from the beam lineup).

I'd imagine if she's healthy Vaculik will be back in the bars and beam lineups. Sanders will probably also stay in bars and beam. Vaculik will be a possible lead-off vaulter. Bablis will continue to do beam/floor and Marino will be on vault/floor. For the UGA seniors in 2018). If Lauren Johnson decides to walk-on for a fifth redshirt season, I imagine she'll be in the vault lineup and the seventh or eighth member of the bars lineup.
