But then I decided to look at the entire season to see what taking them out would mean to the team, just to get a better comparison:
If you took Skinner out of every meet and counted the other scores, Utah's score would drop 1.1, or in other words, their average score of 197.16 would be a 196.06 which would rank them around #18 or 19.
Taking Maggie out, OU's score would go down on average of .72. So their average of 197.858 would go down to 197.14, putting them in the 4-5 ranked position.
I then decided to see what LSU would be like without Gnat. They would go down .85, and their average score would go from 197.744 to 196.89, or around 6 or 7th.
Now obviously if you did this to every team, that changes things, but you get the picture.
So to sum it up, Skinner is so important to Utah. In fact, if you look at the first few meets when Utah had everyone healthy, taking Skinner out still would have dropped their average over a full point. Without her, Utah wouldn't even be close to being at Nationals.
Overall, it's crazy to think how much of an influence one person can have!
And on that note, can you even imagine Skinner if she was being coached by OU? I love how much she cleaned things up by the time the Olympic Trials came around and that has helped her in college, but if she had KJ working with her, she'd be on an entirely different level.
