Wouldn't it be great if people contributed to this thread? I bet we'd be surprised to learn what some ex-NCAA gymnasts are doing in their post graduate lives.

I think the word "unusual" means different things to different people. A lot of it is geographical or the nature of the school. At UCLA, they don't have any agricultural type of majors. But instead, they have some film and music production type classes, and for film, even more renown is the USC program with George Lucas hanging around there. I know some UCLA gymnasts have done stunt work in Hollywood, and Stella Umeh, until she got the gig at Cirque, had done some acting/singing gigs. At Nebraska, they probably have few film majors but lots more agribusiness grads.

I wish I had a better memory, but I remembering reading lots of gymnasts end up doing PT, and other related medical fields. I think a gymnast from CSUF, I forget her name but she was on the Israeli National Team ended up a physician in some rough neighborhood in NYC. All the UCLA Boys of Summer (Gold medalists in 1984 - Dagget, Gaylord, and Vidmar) ended up as TV analysts and Gaylord ended up doing movies. Two Cascio brothers on UCLA men's team ended up as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the movie).

I think Vet work is great. I love animals, even exotic ones (non-poisonous snakes are a favorite). But animal husbandry is different. it requires hands on work with "animal genetic material" (enough said).

Actually, perhaps we're overlooking the most risky and perhaps unusual future jobs. Army, Navy, and Air Force will all be military officers, and some of them could be in the front line.
